A lot of water in the nullah that day and stones were carried down,

Kathleen Charlotte French Fairburn: 8.8. xd Fraser.

On 22nd June I was living at 16 Macdonnell Road.

That day I went out about three p.m.

I walked down past playground to No.2 bridge.

It takes about 10 minutes to get from my house there.

As I got onto the bridge I heard a scream.

I looked up at No.l bridge and saw a Chinese man.

I saw him pick up a little boy on his left and throw him into the nullah on the faryside.

Then he turned and picked up girl on his right side and threw her

over.

They were Furopean children.

The man then climbed over the railing and dropped in himself.

He wore long dark trousers and a light jacket.

Trousers were like Exhibit 9.

Jacket was like Exhibit 6.

He was wearing a straw hat like Exhibit 5.

I afterwards identified this hat from a number of others as being like the hat he wore.

That was at Central, Police Station.

I think he wore shoes but I can't say.

As he threw the children in he had his back to me.

As he climbed over the railings I got the side of his face towards

me.

I had a clear view of him.

He dropped over fully dressed.

I ran at once up the path to No.1 bridge.

I could see the nullah as I ran up.

I saw a little boy clinging to the side of the nullah on the left on this side of the bridge.

That was as I ran up boundary path.

I saw nobody washed down the nullah.

When I got to bridge I saw little girl on he knees on the upper side of the bridge in the nullah.

I had the impression she was on the step.

I looked over the bridge but I saw nobody else.

I ran round and called some chair boys to come down.

They came and a man in long white trousers helped them and they got the children out.

The Chinese man and chair coolies brought the little girl out.

The little boy I lost sight of, but I saw him brought out by a European soldier.

I never saw the man again after he jumped in.

He could have been washed down without my seeing him.

I stood looking over No.1 bridge looking at the little girl.

On 9th July I attended identification parade.

Number of men all dressed alike.

I was asked if I could pick out man I saw on 22nd June.

I identified accused.

He had same hair, same high cheek bones, and sunken cheeks.

xxd.Lim.

In magistrate's court I gave evidence recorded on page 10. What I then said is correct.

When I first saw the man I had just come onto the bridge.

I was just entering the bridge.

The whole thing was a matter of seconds.

I can't remember what the little girl was doing when the boy was thrown in

She was just there.

To the Magistrate I said she seemed to be looking into nullah.

The girl had on a light coloured dress.

From No.2 I had a good view of No.1 bridge.

I ran immediately up boundary path.

At Police Station I saw several hats and identified this one (Exhibit 5)

Man had his hat on throughout.

J

At identification parade I saw a row of men and identified accused.
